Lake Vistonida, in the Rhodopes in the South of Greece, was surrounded by hundreds of metres of webs that spiders wove tetragnatha. It is reported by the Greek channel Alpha TV.

Thick, gray chain web covered the earth, high shrubs and even trees. Rapid reproduction and distribution of these arthropods has contributed to hot and humid weather, and also a large number of mosquitoes.

“This is a natural development and web net will be more distributed due to the large amount of food that spiders eat now,” explained biologist Aptece Pattini.

Local landscapes now resemble a perfect movie set for a horror movie – the web is here just everywhere.
