After the release of the first 8-core processors for mainstream desktop LGA1151 platform-v2 Intel intends to increase the number of physical cores in chips for laptops. Engineering sample CPU of similar users found in the database of the test package 3DMark.

Observed instance belongs to the family Intel Coffee Lake-H and operating from eight cores with support for Hyper-Threding. Nominal frequency yet unnamed new model is a modest 2.1 GHz. For comparison, the current head of the mentioned family of processors – 6-core Core i9-8950HK operates at a frequency of from 2.9 to 4.8 GHz dynamic overclocking.

It should be noted that if Intel wants to keep the original TDP 8-core novelties at 45 watts typical of other solutions to Coffee Lake-H, its nominal frequency before the release can only grow by a few hundred megahertz. While in Turbo mode the frequency of the most loaded core will probably be closer to around 5 GHz.

We can assume that their official announcement will take place at the January CES 2019.
