The zoo animals made a survey.
The team of vets at London zoo unveiled a selection of x-ray images of the inhabitants of the menagerie.
Pictures were taken during the survey of 18 thousand animals that live in the zoo.
They are clearly visible skeletons of animals – frogs, snakes, turtles and lizards. X-ray remains one of the effective methods of diagnosis. Thus, snapshots provide valuable information for the team of veterinarians.
“X-ray you can pretty much tell on the health of animals and to the extent that they have a strong skeletal system to determine whether they have heart disease. These pictures are necessary in our work. And although we see them quite often, we still believe that they are absolutely stunning. Most people easily recognize the x-rays of a person, but they most likely have never seen an x-ray of the carapace of a large bristly Armadillo or tail of the big-headed turtle,” said veterinarian Heather McIntosh.
Publication of x-rays was dedicated to an educational project in Action Vets of the Zoological society of London.
