Municipality of the Swiss city of Chiasso announced that in 2018 it residents can pay taxes with bitcoin.

This is stated in the official statement of the authorities of this city in the South of Switzerland.

Thus, Chiasso followed the example of the infamous Zug, capital of the Swiss Cryptocoryne, who has previously also made such a decision. Thus, if in Zug limit for such operations is CHF 200, power Chiasso went a little further and determined the upper limit at the level of 250 CHF.

That bitcoins will have to pay taxes, the mayor of Chiasso Bruno Arrigoni also said during the meeting with entrepreneurs who have chosen this city on the border with Italy to conduct its activities.

Among them were representatives of Digital Identity and other local startups. In addition, the initiative was supported by other known members of the blockchain industry, including Eidoo, CryptoLab and Giacomo Zucco from Milan Blockchainlab.

“Today in Chiasso formed an internationally recognized community that became the epicenter of technological and economic growth for the Canton and throughout Switzerland. Over the past month, eight start-UPS selected Chiasso for business, and we are in talks with other European companies,” said Bruno Arrigoni.

Chiasso mayor added that the municipality is considering the possibility of supporting a new non-profit Foundation, which will include the blockchain-industry person, and will hold regular meetups on the topic of the blockchain and cryptocurrency. The first such event will take place in October 2017.
