According to the report, the rescue operation lasted 36 hours.

“65-year-old highly skilled climber Rick Allen came down from the cliff and fell, but was not seriously injured. His backpack was noticed by the worker of the base camp, after which it was decided to send in search of an unmanned drone”, – stated in the message.

The drone at the height of 8.4 thousand meters recorded the whereabouts of Allen and after that it other climbers and Sherpas (local people) were able to save him.

It is noted that the Allen frostbitten toes, he was sent for treatment to the hospital.

He climber believes that the use of unmanned aircraft was the right decision, as it showed images proving that he’s still alive.
