At a rally in Bucharest, clashes, police used tear gas
Romanian law enforcement agencies were forced to use tear gas canisters during clashes between protesters Diaspora, which began in Bucharest, and the forces of law and order.
This information was confirmed in the press service of the Romanian gendarmerie.
“My colleagues were forced to use protection (tear gas canisters), as individual protesters began to pelt police and gendarmerie various items and bottles,” – said the head of the press service of Georgian Enache.
According to him, about 25 people, including police officers, received minor injuries. Two gendarmes were taken to a Bucharest hospital.
The collision occurred during attempts by protesters to break through a police cordon and enter the government building.
On Friday, August 10, Bucharest is hosting a rally against the country’s ruling coalition headed by the Social democratic party.
The rally was attended by about 10 thousand people, who arrived in Bucharest from different regions of Romania and from European countries – Norway, Holland, Spain and others.
The main requirement of the protesters – not to undermine the foundations of an independent judiciary, to prevent the power of the people, who have problems with criminal law. The protesters also demand the government’s resignation and early parliamentary elections.
Similar events are held in many major cities of the country.
The authorities of Romania and Bucharest city hall take enhanced security measures.
