The elimination of Sunday trading was voted the Polish Senate, the bill was approved by the lower house of the Polish Parliament – the Sejm.

From 1 March 2018 to shopping centers and supermarkets of Poland will only work in the first and last Sunday of the month, then the trade will be allowed only on the last Sunday of the month.

At the last stage in 2020 Sunday trading will be completely prohibited. Exceptionally, the shops will be allowed to work four Sundays in a year, and before Christmas and Easter. Now shopping centers and supermarkets in Poland remain closed only on public holidays.

The initiator of the adoption of the new law made the Catholic Church with the Solidarity trade Union. They believe that the government made insufficient efforts to eliminate Sunday trading in Poland.

“Solidarity” also criticized the new law. According to representatives of the trade Union, he is not modified, because the Internet shops on Sundays will still be able to sell the goods.

To trade can a small family business, souvenir shops, gas stations, shops at stations and airports. The liberal opposition, in turn, criticized the fact that the law may decrease the number of jobs.
