The Hubble telescope took a picture of the cluster NGC 6496, including stars with a very high content of astronomical “metals”.

Information about this appeared on the official Internet portal of the device.

According to experts, the data space objects from helium and hydrogen, gradually transformed into heavier elements, including oxygen, magnesium, iron and neon. The amount of these substances is directly proportional to the age of these stars. Scientists have noted that the original so-called “metals” located in the bowels of the star, completely determines the course of its development and duration of existence. For example, if the amount of heavy substances is too large then the life will be long.

Globular cluster NGC 6496, at a distance of 36 thousand light-years from Earth, consists of stars of population I (high content of “metals”). Most of them already end their existence, but there are exceptions. In the same group were spotted variable stars, whose brightness varies periodically.
