Turkish soldiers, who arrived by helicopter to Greece and asked for political asylum there, was accused of illegally crossing the country’s borders.

“Eight Turkish officers, landed in Greece by helicopter Saturday, accused of illegal entry”, – stated in the message.

It is noted that officers were interrogated by the magistrate of the North-Eastern Greek town of Alexandroupolis on the border with Turkey. The pilot was charged with illegal entry into the country, and the seven other soldiers are accused of aiding and abetting. Officers will be judged on Monday, however, they may ask one or two day delay.

As previously reported, eight Turkish officers asked for political asylum in Greece. The Greek government promised to consider their request in the framework of international law, taking into account that they are wanted in Turkey on charges of undermining constitutional order.
