Waymo (Google project) and Honda will soon have to begin joint development of an unmanned vehicle for courier services. About Bloomberg told the head of the Waymo John Krafcik.

According to a top Manager, officially, the cooperation of American and Japanese companies should be announced in the near future. The partners are going to develop new Autonomous vehicle from scratch, not to create it on the basis of already existing model, as in the case of joint projects Waymo with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) and the Alliance Jaguar Land Rover (JLR).

According to preliminary data, it will be the car of their dimensions slightly smaller pickup. Likely, the drone will be missing the external controls, including steering wheel and pedals.

Previously, this vehicle was presented Nuro American startup, founded by former Google engineers. The drone, called R1, is a huge container on wheels. It is designed to work in the companies for the delivery of goods which are transported in special compartments. The cabin can accommodate up to 20 standard grocery bags.

Earlier this year Toyota unveiled a prototype of an unmanned vehicle e-from pallette, designed to give you an idea of the mobile service delivery in the future. As expected, Toyota e-Palette will be offered with different body length of four to seven meters. Dimensions allow to equip the vehicle for each specific type of business. For example, Uber can do a passenger car for ridesharing, and Pizza Hut to create a mobile point of sale pizza.
