The age pattern is estimated in 40 thousand years.
As emphasized by the researchers, they were aware of the cave paintings in Borneo since 1994, but until that time didn’t know when was painted these images. Now scientists have found that the age of the drawings can be divided into three main periods. The first of them dates from 52-40 thousands of years ago, and includes stenciled images of hands, as well as drawings of animals, mostly wild bull, the banteng.
The style of painting changed about 20 thousand years ago, when drawings were done mostly in dark purple color, they depict abstract symbols and human figures. The third period dates back to four thousand years ago. At this time the drawings were done mostly in black, they depict people, boats and geometrical shapes.
Previously, scientists have stated that the “hobbits” has gone on tens of thousands of years earlier than previously thought. In the new study, the researchers found that the “hobbits” had died not 17 – 18 thousand years ago, as previously thought, but at least 50 thousand years ago, shortly before the first people arrived on their island.
