Facebook published its first report on the observance of standards of the community. In it the company said the action had to take against the content of violence, nudity, sexual activity, propaganda of terrorism, hateful speech, and spamming.

For the first quarter of 2018, the social network has removed 583 million fake accounts. In the fourth quarter of 2017, this number amounted to 694 million this does not include “millions” of accounts, which the company cuts out before completion of registration.

Recent months Facebook uses to search for fake accounts with pictures of other people using facial recognition technology. But it turned out, the Washington Post, the system’s capabilities in this respect may be limited, as long as she doesn’t know how to compare image profiles with pictures attached all of the 2.2 billion users of the service.

Facebook also noted in the report the following:

– removed 21 million content items depicting an unacceptable nudity and sexual activity, 96 % of which were detected by the tools Facebook;
– deleted, or marked with a warning, 3.5 million items of content depicting violence, 86 % of which were detected by the tools Facebook;
– removed 2.5 million hateful messages, 38% of which were discovered by tools Facebook.

From this it follows that for the detection of hateful speech, the company still relies mostly on other people, not on the computer system. According to the Vice-President of product management at Facebook, guy Rosen (Guy Rosen) years need to pass before artificial intelligence will become sufficiently effective to search for such content.
