Estonian military in Germany will be held NATO exercises

Some 140 Estonian soldiers will take part in starting on Monday of the German Paderborn exercises of rapid reaction forces of NATO.

During the exercise, the Venerable Gauntlet under British command is supposed to work out joint actions of rapid reaction forces of NATO member States.

Estonia sends an infantry company of the reconnaissance battalion, together with the national support element.

“For an infantry company of the intelligence battalion is a good opportunity to practice combat missions in conjunction with the organizational unit to which if necessary, will act in real conditions,” – said the battalion commander, major Kundla Tarmo (Tarmo Kundla).

Estonian infantry are in a combat group, which is based first battalion the Royal regiment Princess of Wales.

At the NATO summit in Newport in 2014, the leaders of the NATO countries decided on the establishment of a task force high readiness Very High Readiness Joint Task Force, the VJTF). The group consists of a land brigade of around 5,000 parts, air and naval support and special forces. In the event of a crisis they will be able to respond within a few days.
