The Turkish President refused to rule out the possibility of imposing the death penalty people who were arrested after a failed military coup on July 15.

The President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in an interview with CNN.

“There is a clear crime of high treason and the request cannot be rejected by our government. But of course the decision should be taken by Parliament to carry out constitutional measures, therefore, the leaders must get together and decide whether they want the opportunity to discuss, and then I, as President, will accept any decision by the Parliament”, – said the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Note that after a failed military coup, this is the first interview of the President.

Recall, July 16, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan did not rule out that the Parliament can get back to discussing the lifting of ban on death penalty after the military coup.
