Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced his country’s readiness to build this year a new channel with a length of 43 km.

It should be an alternative to the overloaded Bosporus Strait, linking the Black sea and the Mediterranean via Marmara.

According to Erdogan, he is engaged in active work on the construction of the canal Istanbul.

“On both sides of the canal will be built two new cities. It is the largest project in the history of Turkey’s strategic importance for the country. We are ready to implement it,” said Erdogan.

He stated this during his speech at the Congress, headed by the ruling party of justice and development of Turkey.
