Экологи бьют тревогу: в Германии исчезли почти все насекомыеThe number of insects fell by a record 75-82%.

Environmentalists have stated that the actual number of all insects in nature reserves and national parks of Germany was reduced by 75-82%, the reason why is not yet clear. On their observations, the researchers reported in the journal PLoS One.

In the study, researchers conducted a “census” 60 nature reserves created in Germany over the past century.

Countless insects living in every corner of the world, prevents to conduct such calculations directly, so scientists conducting them, installing special traps in the national parks and counting the number of insects that fall in them for a certain period of time. Comparing the mass and the number of individuals in such a “catch”, it is possible to understand how changing species diversity and abundance of insects over time.

Such observations paint a disastrous situation that has emerged in recent years. According to scientists, the number and biomass of insects was reduced by approximately 75% and 82% in all 60 nature reserves, despite the huge differences in climate, flora and fauna between them.

For example, in 1990 in the trap every day got about 10 grams of insects, and today this figure has decreased to 2 grams per day. This sharp drop, as the researchers note, may lead to the collapse of all ecosystems, it has affected not only the various predatory and parasitic insects, and pollinators.
