For the second year in a row in Russia reduced meat consumption, reports RBC with reference to the President of the Meat Board of common economic space of the Customs Union Mushegh Mamikonian.
According to data, since 2009, meat consumption has shown only a gain. But last year, meat consumption decreased by 3% and amounted to 10.3 million tonnes after 2014 fell by 2%. Thus Mamikonyan said that last year the Russians were 10% less to consume beef.
According to “ROMIR” in the first half of 2015, the average check (not cleared from inflation) on the meat compared to the same period in 2014 increased by 29%, and the frequency of purchases of meat fell by 5%.
In addition, according to the world trade Center Moscow for 10 months of 2015 the import of meat and offal fell 31.5%, to 921 thousand tons, or in monetary terms is 42.7%, to $2.5 billion.
It grows only in the production of “unconventional bird” (Turkey, duck, goose), and Turkey production in 2015 increased by 34.9% to 205 thousand tons. According to the analytical Agency Global Reach Consulting (GRC), over the last ten years Turkey production in the country grew 7.5 times.
The representative of the second largest Russian retailer X5 Retail Group (network Pyaterochka, “Crossroads” and “Carousel”) confirmed the demand on the Turkey. In supermarkets trading network “Crossroads”, according to him, the sale of Turkey in 2014 increased by 30%, in 2015 – by 20%. As a result, the share of Turkey sales in the overall meat category network “the Crossroads” has grown from 13% in 2014 to 20% in 2015.
