Mercedes-Benz has officially presented its all-electric model new sub-brand EQ – crossover EQC. This is the first representative of a new line of electric vehicles, built on the platform of the EVA (Electric Vehicle Architecture) – up to 2022 is planned to start at least 10 electric cars.

The novelty debuted in version EQC 400 4MATIC. It is equipped with two induction motors – one per axle – that give a total of about 300 kW (408 HP) and 765 Nm. The first motor is configured to provide the best return at low and medium loads. The second is to boost the athletic capabilities of the car.

The car can be recharged both from a household socket or charging station. In the latter case to make up 80% of the energy can be reached in 40 minutes.

Acceleration to 100 km/h takes 5.1 seconds and the top speed is 180 km/h. Lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 80 kWh allows a range of over 450 kilometers. However, data are presented on the test cycle NEDC, which is from September 2018 in Europe replaced by a more hard WLTP. Under the new standards, this rate may be less than competitors in the face of Tesla Model X Jaguar and I-Pace. And is likely to be lower than their future rivals from Audi and BMW.

Letter “s” in the title means that in the hierarchy of the model is on the same level with the GLC crossover.

Production electric vehicle will begin in 2019 in the German factory of the brand in Bremen. Later it will be released in China. Sales will start not earlier than 2020.
