Overfishing and the uneven application of international instruments for sustainable fisheries of concern of experts.

Today, a third of marine fish stocks are depleted world, compared with 10% in 1974.

The FAO report notes that, despite some recent improvements in the management of fisheries and status of stocks in developed countries, the proportion of stocks harvested at biologically sustainable levels declined significantly in developing countries, reports IA “КазахЗерно.kz”.

In addition, about 30% of countries still have low or average rate of implementation of key international instruments to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing, and about 20% of countries have low or medium rate of implementation of the key instruments facilitating the access of small fishers to productive resources, services and markets.

Water scarcity affects countries in all continents. However, the majority of the countries in which there is a high level of water scarcity in 2000, concentrated in North Africa, Western Asia, Central and South Asia.
