Sales of French cognac in 2015 reached a record high of 2.6 billion euros, according to Rambler News Service, citing data from the French Committee of cognac producers BNIC. This is 21.3 percent higher than last year. In real terms in 2015 it sold 169 million bottles, 8.5 percent more than in 2014.

The main markets of French brandy was the US (65 million bottles), Singapore (24,3 million) and China (18.3 million). In Russia sales fell by half. All cognac is exported to 160 countries.

Thanks to the growth of demand in China sell the most expensive segment (Mature cognac) rose by 15 percent. Manufacturers fear that will not be able to fully meet demand.

85 percent of sales occurred in the group LVMH (Hennessy), Martell (Pernod Ricard), Cointreu Remy (Remy Martin) and Suntory (Courvoisier).

Earlier research by the Nielsen company showed that last year Russians drank 5.3 percent less hard liquor than in 2014. In particular, sales of all sorts of brandy and producing countries fell by almost 8 percent.
