Китайские ученые запустили грандиозный космический проект The new plant will generate electricity in space and transmit to the Ground.

Chinese specialists started construction of the first sections of a new space power plant, whose launch is planned for the coming years.

According to reports, the plant will collect solar energy in space and transmit it to Earth by microwave or laser emitters. It is noted that the station will be placed in geosynchronous orbit.

Power station orbiting the Earth at an altitude of 36 thousand kilometers, can use the energy of sunlight without interference of the atmosphere, as well as seasonal and night losses.

The construction of the space solar plant has already begun in Chongqing.

A researcher from the Chinese Academy of space technology pang, by Jihan Dai said that space solar power will be “an inexhaustible source of clean energy for the people”. According to him, this plant will reliably deliver the energy in 99% of cases, and in 6 times more active than solar power on Earth. After the launch of the space power electric cars can be recharged at any time and in any place.

Chinese scientists first plan to build and launch small and medium-sized solar power station that will take you into the stratosphere in the period from 2021 to 2025. The next step will be the construction of powerful solar power plant in 2030. If the experiment with “floating” power plant deemed successful, a larger plant will be commissioned by the year 2050, and will be able to provide a significant portion of China’s cheap energy. Along the way on the Ground creating the infrastructure through which solar energy will receive and store.

According to the Vice-President of the Chinese Academy of space technology Li Mina, China will become the first country to build a space solar power station designed for live use.

However, there are technical challenges still to overcome, among them the weight of the plant, which will be 1000 tons, which exceeds 400 tons weight of the International space station.

The researchers also want to use the space factory with robots and 3D printing technology to build a power plant in space, avoiding the need start the design from the Ground.
