Chanel has invested in a startup, involved in green chemistry

French fashion house Chanel has acquired a minority stake in the Boston startup Evolved by Nature. There are problem of replacement of harmful chemicals to natural components in the manufacture of textiles.

Their product – pure silk in liquid form, which is created when dissolved silkworm cocoons in a saline solution.

This startup developed technology patented “activated silk” allows to improve the quality of the cashmere.

The goal Evolved by Nature to completely replace synthetic chemicals with their innovative inventions, writes WWD.

The exploration of new possibilities will allow to reduce the harm that has the fashion industry on the environment and human health.

We will remind, in December of 2018 Chanel also became an investor in Finnish startups Sulapac, which is engaged in development and production of environmentally friendly materials. The brand supported the last invention project — biodegradable material based on wood, resembling in its properties the plastic.

In addition, supermodel Naomi Campbell starred in a candid photoshoot for the July issue of Vogue UK.
