KIA demonstrated the world’s first solution for connecting the car to the 5G network.
The company KIA Motors at the consumer electronics show CES 2018 (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas (NV, USA) spoke about their vision of future transport. In addition, was presented the all-electric vehicle EV, Niro Concept.
KIA implements the concept of “Infinity for all” (Boundless for all), in which the company intends to form an integrated mobile environment. The strategy is based on three key elements reflecting the representation of the brand on transport of the future: autonomy (Autonomous), interaction with information networks (Connected) and environmental friendliness/electrification (Eco/Electric).
Next year, KIA expects to bring on a public road to test vehicles with auto-pilot. From 2020, the so-called “smart” cities may begin commercial use of robomobile, corresponding to the fourth level of automation SAE: these machines can move independently in most situations.
KIA showed a new infotainment system and climate control system, which react not only to touch but also to gestures. But the technologies of face recognition and speech, developed in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) automatically reconfiguring the vehicle, in accordance with pre-defined personal settings.
In addition, KIA has demonstrated the world’s first solution for connecting the car to a 5G network that allowed real-time to establish a connection between Las Vegas and Seoul.
With regard to the electric vehicle EV, Niro Concept, it has a compact electric motor rated at 150 kW (200 horsepower). Power is provided by lithium polymer battery with a capacity of 64 kW·h. the Stated power reserve on one charge reaches 383 km.
Streamlined body EV, Niro Concept ensures a high aerodynamic efficiency. The traditional radiator grille is no longer required for engine cooling on the interactive flat panel display.
