CD Projekt RED показала процесс создания Cyberpunk 2077Cyberpunk 2077 is the first project of CD Projekt Red, which goes from the universe of “the Witcher”.

For its 25th anniversary, CD Projekt RED along with a PlayStation channel presented a number of documentary videos about the important milestones in the history of the company-over text reads Doug cockle (Doug Cockle), Geralt of English versions of all three parts of The Witcher. The first movie dedicated to the origins of CD Projekt, the second – Witcher Geralt of Rivia, the third card projects based on guinta. The fourth part of the video diaries, talks about the development of an ambitious action-RPG Cyberpunk 2077.

“It was probably the most tense E3 in my life, and I don’t know why, but I just couldn’t cope with all the emotional pressure. I was just a shadow of himself at the last E3,” said co-founder and President of CD Projekt RED Marcin Ivinsky (Marcin Iwiński).

Cyberpunk 2077 is the first project of CD Projekt Red, which goes from the universe of “the Witcher”. Is a role-playing open world game, focused on action and story. A loud statement was made in the distant year of 2012, and the first official teaser shown in 2013. But this was followed by a long silence. Relations Manager community Marcin Momot (Marcin Momot) recalls: “After the teaser we kind of went into hibernation. Silent mode for four or five years have been very traumatic for me and my team of public relations, because people were very excited about the first announcement”.

When the developers announced Cyberpunk 2077, they had a vision of what they wanted to achieve in the project. But freedom concept on paper and role-playing game for PC – things are very different, and reality imposes a number of constraints. In the result, the original material takes time to develop and change in the process and running experiments. Over the past five years the team created the environment that they hope will exceed the expectations of both fans of the original Board game, and any previous projects CD Projekt.

Level designer miles Tost (Tost Miles) notes: “the Developers can’t just take and show the project in its early stages. Because game development is a process with several stages. What we have now on hand, may be very different from what will happen tomorrow. So we had ideas that died for years of development, and then was resurrected, then abandoned, and now they are back in the project.”

Cyberpunk 2077 action not only takes place 50 years after the events of the original Board game “Cyberpunk 2020”, but also takes place in a parallel timeline. It gave the team the freedom to create a project that would give tribute to the original, but at the same time is suitable for game adaptation. For example, it was vital that the appearance of the main character, V, was fully customizable. It’s an unusual step for the company, known for such a recognizable character, like Geralt of Rivia.

“It was important for us to give players that kind of freedom, so they can play on their own in our world and really dive into the game. Partly for this reason, we chose the first-person perspective – the player must feel that plays someone else and acts on his “I”,” – said miles is Toast.

The transition to the first person intended to convey the scale and striving for the stars, knight city, a vast, neon-soaked urban city. The perspective in combination with a brand new style of movement and the ability to control the car brings with it a new set of design problems levels.

Toast says: “it’s Easy to create seemingly huge open world, when the character moves on their own, but when he uses the car, cross the level for ten minutes. In the first case, the world feels huge and the second is not too large. How to balance? How to create a feeling of spaciousness? But still cool, when we have to challenge ourselves to move forward in new unexplored areas and try to find new solutions to these problems.”

2018 at E3, CD Projekt RED finally revealed the first gameplay Cyberpunk 2077 behind closed doors to a limited number of media representatives and invited guests. The developers were very worried and wanted to know what people outside say about the game, because the hype was strong. Journalists made the project very warmly, and company left the game show satisfied, taking more than a hundred awards.

Two months after E3, developers showed gameplay from the exhibition to the whole community of players – the audience also enthusiastically embraced the project. Now Cyberpunk 2077 can not be called a mystery, which it was a few years ago, but work on the game continues and is far from complete. As in 2013, the developers refuse to call the release date: it will take place only when the creators deem that it was finished.
