Unusual castle in Scotland.
Who said that the ancient castles have to be dull gray? The current owner of the castle Kelburn in Scotland decided to try to completely change the appearance of the castle and not lost.
Scotland, like the rest of the UK cannot complain about lack of locks. Across the country, they preserved a great many, and each in its own way something remarkable. Stand out with this hard competition.
Patrick Robin Archibald Boyle, Earl of Glasgow in the tenth generation, now owns the castle, Kelburn (The Kelburn Castle, XIII century buildings), having received it in inheritance from their parents. In fact, this castle is the oldest in Scotland from those in which continuously lives the same family.
It is clear that with such a strong legacy not to be careless about it and be careful.
And when in 2007 was it necessary to update the plaster, which was applied to the castle in 1950-ies. Children of Patrick Boyle proposed to his father to paint the plaster before you get rid of it. Patrick approached this issue creatively and invited four Brazilian graffiti artists to paint their castle.
The work of Brazilian artists drew then the attention of the media and, as a result, attracted tourists. Finding such an interest, Patrick Boyle was able to negotiate with the organization Historic Scotland, which is responsible for the preservation of the historical heritage of the country to write graffiti together with the old plaster for another couple of years.
It was originally planned that graffiti hold out the castle for three years, and after the Earl Boyle did begin restoration work. But now, after more than 10 years, graffiti still in place.
In 2012, the Inspectorate has sent Boyle a recommendation as soon as possible to begin restoration work, as the old plaster destroys the castle walls. But so far, apparently, Boyle manages to keep his position. He organized tours of the castle, which, by the way, has lived her whole life. And tourists still come from around the world and especially the UK, to see this work of art. However, this decision Boyle will affect the condition of the old castle, is a big question.
