Korean insiders say that Apple and LG will soon conclude a contract to supply OLED-matrices for the next generation iPhone.
The information is not confirmed officially, but the manufacturer of the displays already mentioned the negotiations with cupertinos company.
Under the contract, LG will ship 15-16 million screens in the second half of 2018, and the rest of the panels will be manufactured by Samsung. But more interesting was what the diagonal will have the matrix LG.
The source reports that LG Display will release a 6.5-inch OLED panel, specially for Apple and Samsung will do the 5.8 – or 6-inch matrices. Probably the screens are designed for iPhone 9 (the presumed name of the next generation) with the size of the current iPhone X and iPhone 9 Plus, which will be the biggest Apple smartphone in the entire history of the company.
Earlier, famous analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also heralded the release of two variants of the iPhone in 2018. All the leaks and speculation must be taken with caution.
