Apple потеряла эксклюзивные права на бренд iPhone в КитаеCase Apple on one of the key markets are getting worse.

Apple shareholders barely had time to recover from the news that the company’s revenues in the first quarter of 2016 fell for the first time in the last 10 years, followed by a new disappointment.

Apple lost the rights to the brand iPhone on one of their most important world markets.

The Chinese Supreme court issued a ruling on the claim from the company Beijing Tiandi Xintong Technology, which claimed their rights to the trademark iPhone. The court decided to satisfy the claim and denied Apple exclusive rights to the iPhone in China.

Apple’s lawyers focused on the fact that the company registered the iPhone trademark back in 2002. However, the court chose to take into account the fact that Apple not sell iPhone in China until 2009.

The court ruled that the name iPhone was not enough known in China as Apple product before the advent of the Beijing company. Therefore, there is no reason to give the American manufacturer an exclusive right to this trademark.

According to some experts, this solution may exacerbate the problem, Apple in the Chinese market, where the company last year so lost the leadership position of the local manufacturer Xiaomi.
